Putting wheels on backpacks in various ways can be seen from many perspectives - And there are both challenges and benefits in rolling or pushing luggage instead of carry it on ones back. Not only to the hiker but also to the trails, the environment and also to both public transportation, to other hikers and to walking along with hikers when some use wheels and some not
