About the wheelhiking research project by Hiking.org
Suitcases got wheels a few years ago and I wondered will hikers see backpack go through a similar evolution?
Project to research how hikers put wheels under their gear, and what benefits and challenges it might create
Research by Frits Ahlefeldt, Hiking.org
With a background in both design and journalism I write, research and draw up perspectives and knowledge about hiking.
Hiking with wheels is a project about how rolling backpacks and gear might be one of the ways hiking will evolve and this is about the benefits - and challenges this might create, both to hikers, to trails and to our understanding of what hiking is.
Most of my stories are on Hiking.org
I've been experimenting and using various ways to roll my gear when running and hiking. Using various solutions on and off in the last 10+ years.
I have mainly used the babyjogger and the two wheeled pull wagon types. But also using other types from time to time.
I am working independently as a journalist and not selling any systems or hired by any of the brands or systems mentioned
Let me know if there is brands, types or perspectives I have missed. Thanks :-)
